I lean towards standing with tradition on this one, we can do the BYP/DYP the week after. Bill is correct the problem would be with Expert and Pro partners entering the draw just to save money. Typically the DYP teams do not place in the money anyhow. If you noticed I really dropped the price for Beginners for this one, to the same price that they would pay in a DYP. Also it is usually beginners that end up in the DYP as well. This way they can at least pick the beginner that they play with.

However if there are a significant number of people sitting out because of the format have them contact me. If it is truly a large number of players I will consider adding the DYP to the Open.

Brad

The event has traditionally always been Open Singles & Open Doubles. Occasionally we added other events, but only if we had 4 or more tables, and even then we often ran into time problems.

You are probably referring to the BYP/DYP mix format, which seems to have become a popular one. That would be changing the "tradition", though not really, since it is still an "open" event. That might be fine; I don't know if Brad has a reason for not offering it. (Would there be a concern about SP's or pros entering the draw section to save money? I doubt it. LOL!)

BillyBoy wrote:

You aren't even going, Chris - why are you starting trouble? LOL

Hey Bill, just found out a couple days ago that I may be able to attend. I like the DYP because if I suck, then I don't feel so bad for my partner, being that we were paired randomly. But more importantly, not everyone has a partner and there are going to be people who don't go because of this. Why would we not include a simple DYP so everyone can participate?
