CM Singles and Handicapped BYP 7/19/13

I even remembered to take a picture of the doubles winners, well sort of. Both doubles and singles ended up splitting, which was a real shame because the teams involved were both playing at a high level, it would have been fun to see how it turned out. With that said I have seen some other tournaments have a no split rule unless it is for time considerations. I am considering implementing one here and would like to get some feed back from all of you on it. fooser4fun Posts: 28 7/21/2013	fooser4fun Posts: 28 No Split, it is a tournament after all. Also, maybe you should have a vote on tourney format. I miss the normal DYPs we used to have. All the silly handicapped roto hi/lo chip race formats are lame. And it hasn't brought in new players, we have fewer beginners showing up now than we did with the old DYPs.

At the very least, roto is a format that I think is pretty cool and lets other players besides the dominant ones get practice on front and back. I haven't been to many of the tournaments, but I will more in the future, and would like to see more roto and hi/lo events.

Just find someone who plays worse than you, then you will be the dominant player on the team.

BYP... yeah, you can bring a partner who is understanding, and who WILL roto, or let you play a position that maybe you need practice at... Speaking of that... what happens at the BYP events if one doesn't have a partner? Are there others who come without partners hoping to pick someone up at the event?

But in the case where you cannot find one, you can often still get in as the "x-man" - where you can choose your partner from the first team knocked out. I tell people if they show up to play, we will get them in. edited by BillyBoy on 8/7/2013

chambie Moderator Posts: 781 8/14/2013	chambie Moderator Posts: 781 Actually the "lame" events seem to bring a bigger turnout than the DYP's do. The DYP's seem to bring between 6 and 8 teams, and the "lame" events seem to bring 8 to 11 teams. We have voted on tourney formats in the past and that, combined with experience, is how I choose to run the events we now have. I am always open to discussing the subject and want to do what is best for the majority of the players. Keep foosing all! Chambie
