New Phoenix "Parents/Kids" family league!
adminAdministrator
|
Hey foosers!
We have received a lot of interest lately from players who have kids that are getting into the game, and several people have asked if there were any way for their kids to join our league. Unfortunately, this would not quite work out with our regular league since most of the locations do not permit underage players, so scheduling teams with underage players would not really be possible.
However, it appears that we do have a workable solution, and we are now contemplating launching a new "Parents/Kids" league. Nothing is set in stone yet, but here is the general plan at the moment:
• There will be two kid-friendly "home locations" available, one on each side of town. (Bull Shooters in NW Phoenix, and the Sets in Tempe.) • Teams will consist of four players - two pairs of parents/kids on each team. This will allow a fun combination of games in the matches (e.g., kids can play some games with parents, some with the other kid, a couple of parent-parent games, etc.) • Match format will be similar to the regular league, however, there will likely be different games and/or rounds, etc.
There is more to hash out, but we wanted to send out this email to find out which of you foos families would be interested in joining such a league. Once we know we've got enough interest, we will schedule a meeting for those who would like to help lay out how the new league will work (e.g., day & time of matches, match & season format & duration, entry fees & prizes, etc.)
* SO, EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD, OR SEND US AN EMAIL at [email protected] *

"The Sets" is now CLOSED!
adminAdministrator
|
We have just been informed that the Sets is closing for good. Of course, our league has four teams based there. We are working on finding another location in that area. In the meantime, as a temporary solution:
All teams based at the Sets will play their home games at Clicks Billiards.
These teams are:
Space Rangers Super Sets Yuh 5 Man Itsnotu.com
The schedule has been updated.
Sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully, we will have a replacement location soon. On that note, if any of you guys out there know of a potentially good place somewhere in Tempe/Mesa area, let us know!

Yes, they have just closed their doors for good. We are now looking for a replacement location somewhere in that area. If anyone has an idea for a good potential location (especially if you also have a contact there), let us know!

Need some help for Tucson/Phoenix event!
adminAdministrator

We need to bring in two extra tables for this event (and take them out), so we could use another hand or two to help move them!
We plan to bring them in Saturday around noon, and remove them Sunday afternoon.
If you would like to help, reply here or contact us by phone or email. (Free entry to the event(s) if you contribute slave labor!)

Can somebody update this website?
adminAdministrator

Hey, how come you aren't bitching about that video? Haha!
Anyway, no one's sent a new Tucson picture since June...
As far as updating, etc., I've planned to add certain privileges, etc., for some users to be able to update/upload some things, but haven't got to that yet. Also, no one has really asked to do it, so it's not been at top of list.
However, as a professional programmer and AZ fooser, I may trust you to directly access it. I'll give you a call soon to work that out, if you would like to play with it. |

I've had some bigger issues lately. But I'll call you, Zeke, trust me...
In the meantime, you should see if you can hack it. |

New Mesa Foos Location!
adminAdministrator
|
Arizona Foosbal has added a new Mesa-area playing location!
Main St. Billiards 1749 W Main St # 11 Mesa, AZ
Many players have been asking for a Mesa location for quite awhile, and we've been holding off trying to find a nice one that is capable of supporting our leagues and possibly tournaments. The Main St. location is excellent for these things, and we think you guys/gals will enjoy it. Stop by and check it out when you get a chance (click the link above for a map). While you're there, be sure to say hi to the owner, Thor Skogan - who is an old time fooser himself!
Happy foosin!

2010 League questions

The latest news from Clicks is that they will probably NOT be closing soon. There is no guarantee, but the word from the top is that it is unlikely (they are adding off-track betting, and the landlord has lowered his rent, etc.).
The league will be scheduled as normal, and if there are any issues we will have to adjust when the time comes.
To answer your first question: you will see the locations listed on the league signup form...

TUCSON - PHOENIX TROPHY CHALLENGE
Saturday, February 6, 2010 Click's Billiards, Phoenix, AZ Entry fees: $5 beginner, $10 rookie/semi, $15 pro/master
Schedule:
3:30 - Open Singles
7:30 - Open Doubles _____________________________________________
ALL PLAYERS WELCOME!
NOTE: Due to the success of the last Tucson-Phoenix Challenge (no conflicts, on-time start & finish, etc.), this event will mimic the last.
We will have FIVE TABLES on hand for this tournament, and will enforce the early start time for the singles event. This should alleviate any conflicts between singles and doubles event, as well as better facilitate those who come early for the doubles event and find that they are unable to get in any warmup games, etc.
Trophy Scoring method: "Trophy points" will be tallied for the event by totaling the prize money awarded to all players from each city. The team/city with the most points wins the trophy. |
