$150 BONUS PRIZE MONEY FOR MONSTER DYP THIS WEEKEND!
Our next MONSTER DYP will take place this Saturday (December 15) at Stinger's, and an additional $150 will be added to the prize fund. Check the calendar in the "Coming Events" section for more details and to sign up early.
The MONSTER DYP format pairs players with a different partner every round. Players play a match (usually a game to 7 or 10) with each partner, and the winners of the match are awarded points. At the end of the tournament, the top scoring players team up for a dramatic playoff.
Thanks to this event's SPONSORS: Steve Taylor Debbie McKinney Stinger's Sports Bar Bill Nolan
And a very special thanks to Ronnie Garrett for helping to organize and direct our Monster DYP events! Buy him a beer when you get there!
Hope to see you guys and gals there this weekend for a great time! edited by BillyBoy on 12/14/2018 |

Don't know what you are talking about... can you explain? Are you saying we shouldn't add the extra $150? Because i'm not sure why I'm doing that right now while i'm broke anyway! LOL edited by BillyBoy on 12/13/2018 |

Hey man if you are simply saying that you just don't like the monster format then FWIW I'm trying to arrange another Big Sting within the next couple months so you might be into that (should be regular double elim)... |

Fine, I'll rephrase... Why won't you run a normal, old fashioned DYP when you add $150 to the pot? The last few times that much was added, you use some funky-assed format (such as roto, goalies delight or this multi-partner gimmick).
Ok, I'll explain.
It may come as no surprise that we don't have events with a big added cash prize very often due to the simple reason that someone has to add the cash. It is like pulling teeth to get a bar to add money, and it's like pulling all your teeth at once to get a dedicated sponsor. So when I do these things I have to either just cough up the money myself, or try to make a deal with the bar where they promise to contribute a certain amount of money dependent upon the number of people we bring to the bar, and how long we keep them there. Or some combination of both. A key thing to recognize is that bars will typically will not offer any amount of money without these conditions. The catch-22 is that it is immensely helpful to an event's turnout to announce ahead of time how much money will be added. So whenever you see that happen, usually it is when I have personally placed a significant amount of money at risk, gambling that we reach a certain attendance in the hopes of recouping some of the cost.
As far as the event types go...
With the aforementioned considerations in mind, we generally select an event type that tends to draw the greatest amount of players, or is specifically requested by a cash sponsor, or a compromise of each. |

Minor Foosball Emergency!

We need to move the two T2000 tables out of Main Street Billiards tomorrow by 4 p.m., and then bring them back next Tuesday or Wednesday. As I do not personally own a truck or a storage facility, this kind of event is a bit of a problem! If any of you fine young chaps has a nice truck and could possibly manage this task, I will give you 10 free tournament entries, a playful slap on the ass, and tell everyone how cool you are!
If you are feeling up to it, please give me a call or text @ 602-751-8818.
Thanks!
P.S. A storage area may not even be necessary; the tables will be fine even if they're just left on the truck with a blanket over them for a few days. |
