Got to say, I never saw Goalie's Delight being utilized so much through out the evening! In fact, due to the prevalence of back shots, the tournament went extremely fast even though it started an hour late.

And, about that, I apologize for the hold up. It was a surprise, and ill timed telling us to move the tables for the dart players that ended up leaving anyways (right as we were supposed to start). I sincerely appreciate everyone that helped in moving the tables.

More importantly, I really mean that! My current limitations put me in a bad spot, and ya all really just stepped up and literally lifted foos tables in order to enable the event! Even Billy came down to level the tables and win the damn event as a result of ill timing and surprising events! umm...THANKS!

Very happy with the result of the discussion with the owner of Stinger's. Having 2 tables in the back corner area and only one in the middle to promote awareness of the tables is dang near perfect! Having tables near us again for sitting and easy access to the bar is very nice. It was a great tourney for me as a result, even though I went out in 2! Very nice meeting up with David W. as well. He is the guy that used to run the old Pinkies tourneys! New faces are always nice, but faces from our past coming back to play again carry a different sort of awesomesauce!

We all know that things are in flux in my life. So, some, may want to chalk this post up to that. Yet, the reason matters very little, if anything at all. Most of the coding behind our system is complete. Soon, there will be a system in place for just about everything in order to prevent anyone from calling out anyone on a one to one basis about most aspects of our cherished game.

There will be a system in place that will alert you to when you are up. Shit, this system will even text your phone in order to give you your warning. You can then choose to ignore it, or not. Yet, when you choose to ignore and are met with a forfeiture then do NOT bitch at the director of the event. Some of us fail to understand that while we are out having drinks to unwind (like myself), OTHERS are there simply to play Foos.

With this in mind, Billy and I have been working overtime of late to automate as much as possible. Well, honestly, all I do is tell Billy what irritates me or other players and then he incorporates that into his program and I test it. Some parties wish to say that this or that person is working against them, or another party wants to say this or that that annoys them, yet everyone will still lecture me about whatever the hell is bothering them. There are rules to this game people...if you are not happy, GET A REF to time, to call bullshit to bullshit...without one, it is one mad hatter screaming at another!

Basically, the will of everyone is leaving me with a no win situation. I don't care for that kind of drama in any way, shape, or form. This is probably my greatest flaw. I simply do not give a shit about everyone's drama. To me, everyone has it. I just work with it and move on. None of it means much to me...not even my own. As, when I realized my personal drama was akin to a "Debbie Downer" situation...I fucking removed myself.

There are too many of our player base either fascinated with stupid ass drama, or bothered by stupid ass drama. I call on all of you to remember that we are all different. Yes, there are problematic players for this reason or the next...or, perhaps, you think I am a problematic person. Yet, NONE of us are in high school anymore...so grow the fuck up! Let the drama people be the drama people! Let those that have problems have problems as long as they are not seriously debilitating to an event! As a side not, some have larger problems than any of us would ever care to deal with, GIVE THEM FOLKS A BREAK! It is NOT the end of the world!

Really, we all just need to stop thinking only about ourselves and start thinking about the game again. In other words, let's start thinking about ALL of us again. We are a bit of a misfit family. We are FOOSERS! So, lets remind each other about this. If you are burnt out, then take a break! Can't take a break because you will lose? Then decide what means more to you. It really is that simple. Dedication should be rewarded, after all.

Ronnie Garret had a really good idea, in my opinion, about a week ago. He said that we should all go bowling...I fucking agree! I will be looking into local bowling alleys and set a time. Plus, I used to love darts....wouldn't mind getting together with a bunch of ya all to play that. WHATEVER! Just tired of a high school mentality being part and parcel of Foosball. It is time to have fun and realize we are a community of like minded individuals...even if our minds are not the same!

It is not right to take your angst against me, or some other player, to such an extreme that it hurts our community and sport...it is childish. Drama is something I am far too good at ignoring. However, I must recognize it has gripped our scene from time to time, with this being one of them times. So, let us work together to abolish the adolescent mindset that allows it to flourish.

We are working hard to develop a system that takes all the "blame" aspect out...perhaps that will be enough. Yet, in case it is not, we are forming a rules committee that will handle all the stupid shit in order to prevent any one person becoming the "fall" person for others actions.

In other words, I have been listening...I do care. I am acting. Soon, start times will be enforced. When you are called, forfeiture times will be enforced. These things are not about pissing anyone off...they are about removing the reason for some to be mad at the some that choose not to care...and, yes, I do recognize the irony! I often simply do not care! But, I always try to do right by ya all. I just tend to go with the flow and pay no mind to drama or bullshit. So, in essence, Billy and I, are setting up a system that will correct myself.

Thank you for your time, and I hope that as these things roll out, most of you will be satisfied. In addition, I greatly hope it will bring back players that we all have been missing of late.

Sincerely,

Jesse L Rhode

RE: Fooser family emegency Dave Monk Varnell

URGENT MESSAGE FOOSER FAMILY!

In my work locating lost and forgotten foosers for the upcoming California FOOSBALL Hall of Fame I ran across a difficult story for one of our foosball brothers. Dave Monk (who goes by Dave Varnell today due to an adoption Issue) was a devout fooser for several decades who supported my Dynamo brown tables and Striker as well as Tornado, local and regional Ca tournaments religiously. He stopped when he moved out of country...

I always feel the toughest story is when disease or health issues dictate that a player may not ever again get to play his love - foosball. Dave was reluctant to ask for help but I said "we the foosball family" have helped before and lets give it a shot. Please read his family's story. They have an urgent need for our help and its real and reasonable.

I have known Dave many years and he is a good decent stand up man of integrity!

Take a look at his wife and beautiful daughter and give whatever you feel you can give (however small pls contribute if you are able) and keep his family in your prayers.

If you just cannot help you can take a minute and share this please.

His STORY:

My Name is Dave Monk Varnell,

My family is in a really desperate situation. Three (3) months ago my wife, Levera had emergency surgery for second stage Thyroid cancer. We were able to cover the cash costs but it wiped out our family savings/resources. I hurt my back 2 months ago and lost my job. I am dealing with Spinal/Sciattica debilitating pain and may never be able to walk, sit, or drive, let a lone play foosball again.

My wife and 5 year old daughter (Kesha) are in the Philippines living in a remote Island in a small house with no roof. I am way beyond my resources/abilities to help them.

She has been out of medicine for two weeks (and the last five days almost comatose/non responsive) We got her to the ER but over there you have to pay before anything will be done to save her life…She needs money right away for the ER and afterwards for food shelter medicine etc...

Thank you so much for your consideration,

David Monk Varnell
