TUCSON - PHOENIX TROPHY CHALLENGE

Saturday, February 6, 2010
Click's Billiards, Phoenix, AZ
Entry fees: $5 beginner, $10 rookie/semi, $15 pro/master

Schedule:

3:30 - Open Singles

7:30 - Open Doubles
_____________________________________________

ALL PLAYERS WELCOME!

NOTE: Due to the success of the last Tucson-Phoenix Challenge (no conflicts, on-time start & finish, etc.), this event will mimic the last.

We will have FIVE TABLES on hand for this tournament, and will enforce the early start time for the singles event. This should alleviate any conflicts between singles and doubles event, as well as better facilitate those who come early for the doubles event and find that they are unable to get in any warmup games, etc.

Trophy Scoring method: "Trophy points" will be tallied for the event by totaling the prize money awarded to all players from each city. The team/city with the most points wins the trophy.

Zeke - I do not know why Phoenix did not make it to the last one. I suppose that my illness had some effect, as I was forced to disappear for awhile, and thus did not engage in any "promotion" at that time. However, I still don't know why no one made the trip. It seems that these foosball events tend to be "all or nothing" things, and there is a certain ripple effect that happens when some players hear that others are or are not going to play. (E.g., when players hear that a couple guys are not going, then it is easy for them to just put it off as well.)

Anyhow, I was concerned about this and talked to Dan for awhile about it. I told him that we have had a great thing going between Tucson-Phoenix (which seemed to be improving with each round), and that I thought it was pretty gay that none of Phoenix made it down for the last one, and hoped that didn't mess anything up and cause Tucson to not bother in return.

Because of the circumstances, I told Dan that it might be a good idea to hold the next Tucson-Phoenix event (this one) once again in Tucson. Dan would have been happy to do it, but due to a couple of other factors (namely some issues with Main St. Billiards that he is currently trying to resolve), he favored holding it in Phoenix nonetheless.

Again, I am sorry about the poor showing at the last one, but hopefully that won't be repeated. I would be more than happy to do a repeat in Tucson, and haul as many of these dudes over there as possible for you to smack around, and to show that we still love you guys out there!

Tucson had plenty of representation, and by me not showing up should have been some incentive for you Phoenix guys to come down and have a fighting chance at winning.

Billy,

It's all good. I'm sure a bunch of us will go to Phoenix and put the beat down on you guys.

Jay,

I didnt know you were thinking of attending. I'm already partnered up with the John "Pinalyzer" Davis, otherwise I would have snatched you up real quick.
