Foosers we are making some exciting new changes to the tournaments at the Cactus Moon! Starting this coming Friday - the first Friday of the month - we will implement the following new tournament format!
All rankings are according to local points. Players will be rated as Pro's, Experts, Amateurs and Beginners. Since some players object to me posting points or rankings on the website, I will bring the breakdown to the tournaments. If you want to know your local rank post back here and I will get it to you.
1st Friday - 7 PM singles - Pro $12 - Ex/AM $8 - Beginner $5 - Women free. 8:30 No Two Pro BYP. No seeding. Pro $12 - AM/EX $10 - Beginner $5 - Women Free.
2nd Friday - 8:30 DYP - Pro $12 - AM/EX $10 - $5 bucks beginners and women
3rd Friday - 8:30 No Two Pro Roto BYP. No teams can have two pro players. No Seeding. Each time your team scores you must switch positions. Entry Fees - Pro $12 - AM/EX $10 - $5 bucks beginners and women
4th Friday - 8:30 Pick Ur Partner - Everyones name goes in a random draw, first name chosen gets to pick their partner. The person who was chosen is then removed from the list. The next person on the list then chooses a partner. This is repeated until all teams are set. Pro $12 - AM/EX $10 - $5 bucks beginners and women.
5th Friday - 8:30 Handicapped BYP. All matches 2 out of 3 games, to 7 points. Chips are given according to rating. Pros = 0 - Experts =1 - Amateurs = 2 - Beg/Women =3. A team with an EX and and AM would have three chips. Chips can be used at any time during a match except to win a game. i.e. A match is tied 4 to 4 in the third game. Team A has no chips and team B has two chips. Team B elects to use their chips now to make the score 6 - 4.
The goal of these changes is to attempt to entice more players to come out by reducing the prices for beginners and women, making the teams more competitive, and adding some more additional strategy and intrigue to the games by playing different game types in a tournament setting.
Also each week both weekend tournaments will be giving away a free tournament entry to the other tournament that must be used with in the following month. Other future items in the works......Summer points race, East Valley vs West Valley challenge, and the Return of Tucson vs Phoenix ............stay tuned for more details.
