Hello, I play some up in Minnesota here, I am wondering where there is to play in Mesa? I'm contemplating moving down there and am interested in knowing if there is a good foosball base?

Hi Jen -
In mesa there are a few places to play. The main spot right now is at the Cactus Moon. It is a nice sports bar and we have 4 t3000 tables there. We have a Friday night tournament. It has been down a bit lately but we were drawing between 9 and 13 teams regularly before vegas. We also just had a 2,000 dollar event there that went really well.
Click on the places to play and tournaments section of this website go get more information. There is also a pretty strong league presence all over the Valley, just click on the leagues section to get more info on it.

Jen,
I was at the HOF last week and I was talking to folks about what we have going on here in Arizona. To a person, they were surprised and thrilled to hear it. We have 2 tourneys each week, Friday and Saturday. We have some intermittant tourneys too like the Phoenix-Tucson Challenge (with a travelling trophy). We had eight of our players go to the HOF and bring back what they learned.
We have a league that's been going on now about five years. The leagues have grown the player base like nothing I have ever seen (I've been playing foos for over 30 years). The league means we have competitive foosball in six or seven different locations valley-wide. There are folks who get together at each others homes to play, there are women as well as men playing. We have beginners, intermediate players and old pros. Want Pro-masters? Try Don Swan, Randy Stark and Johnny Valles. Want flavor? We usually have players from Albuquerque, Tucson, El Paso, San Diego and LA come to our larger tournies. Need I say more?
We have quite the community going on here and you would be welcome.
And there is no snow here. I know, I know... you can't keep your beer cold in the trunk of your car like you can in MN, but the palm trees and wonderful seasons (except Summer of course) are enough to pull up roots and get down here. Come soon so you can ease into the Summer.

We also have an array of characters here that would put the Village People (c) to shame.
E.g., there are guys like this Casey fellow, who will buy you a beer and then proceed to be very inconsiderate with his 3 bar, world famous recoil masters Marc "Cowboy" Waggoner & Harry White, the inimitable Don Swan, the dynamic and business-savvy Guy Pesce, Doug "Stone Cold" Steele, who has the biggest heart around (but who, like his nickname implies, has the blackest of hearts on the table), the radiant and outright silly Bridget, and the singular Scott Young (who is busy right now on another thread attempting to get banned), to name but a few.
