Topic: CM Singles and Handicapped BYP 7/19/13

Actually the "lame" events seem to bring a bigger turnout than the DYP's do. The DYP's seem to bring between 6 and 8 teams, and the "lame" events seem to bring 8 to 11 teams.

We have voted on tourney formats in the past and that, combined with experience, is how I choose to run the events we now have. I am always open to discussing the subject and want to do what is best for the majority of the players.

Keep foosing all!

Foosers -

Please do your best to show up and register at least 30 minutes before your event. I will be running the events on net foos, and it takes a bit longer to set up than your paper run events but the benefit is that the tourney runs much more smoothly. If you show up after the 30 minute deadline you run the risk of not getting to play. I am hearing that the turnout will be big so make sure you show up early.

Foosers, thanks for supporting this event. Turnout was a bit light however things ran very smoothly.

1,120 handed out in total prize money
Special thanks to Nolan Gorney, Ronnie Garrett and Bill Nolan for helping in calling matches
Thanks to the El Paso, Tucson and Albuquerque foosers for making the trip
Props to the Cactus Moon for supporting the event by kicking in $ and having great drink specials for the foosers

Topic: New TD for Cactus Moon Friday's!!

Foosers -

Since my son is now a member of the Maricopa High School Varsity football team, I will be unable to come to most of the tournaments during football season which is September and October.

With that said Mike Lawrence has graciously stepped up and volunteered to run the events. To simplify things for Mike I have decided to run just standard DYP's instead of our regular events until Mike becomes more comfortable with the responsibilities of being the TD.

DYP entry fees will be as follows.....

$10 dollar experts and pros
$7 dollar amateurs
$5 dollar beginners and rooks

Please be as supportive and helpful to Mike as you can be as he takes on this responsibility.

Foosers - making some slight changes to CM events....

1st Friday - No Two Pro Bring
2nd Friday - DYP
3rd Friday - OS and Hi-Lo Roto DYP

I am still awaiting the insurance settlement from CM regarding the tables, so we are still at 3 tables for now. I will be performing some major table maintenance this Friday.

All new balls, replacing men and bumpers as well.

Two tables have been completed. I talked to the owners of the older two tables and they agreed to purchase all new bearings, balls, bumpers and replace the broken men. I will complete the bumpers and men for the third table on Friday. The bearings will be sometime in the next week or two.

Because we only have three tables for Friday singles will be single elimination 2 0f 3, until the money then 3 of 5 if time allows.

Thinking about doing a thanksgiving dyp the Wednesday at 7 PM prior to Thanksgiving. It will be a straight up dyp 10 bucks a head, I am going to ask the bar to kick in an extra 150 on top of the entry fees. If you are interested in attending let me know here as I want to see how feasible this is.

Friday night at the moon will consist of two events again.....

7 PM - Handicapped Singles - Winner take all! 5 Dollar entry!
Single Elimination 3 of 5 format to five points
Handicap works as follows - Pros get 0 points, Experts 1, Amateurs 2, Beginners 3
Points can be taken at the beginning of each game, drop goes to non handicapped person, examples as follows...
Pro plays an amateur - pro gets the drop, am starts each game with two points
Expert plays an amateur - expert gets the drop, am starts each game with 1 point
Beginner plays an amateur - amateur gets the drop, beginner starts each game with 1 point

8:30 PM - NTP BYP - Same rules as in coming events section, no changes.
