Interim League on Wednesdays

Post season blues? As the 2011 league is drawing to a close, we have received many questions and requests about the next league. Some players have shown distress at the prospect of having to wait six months for their next foosball league fix! You will be pleased to know that the coordinators have your back! We’ve taken several measures this time around to make this transition as seamless as possible, and have instituted the following actions: 1) An Interim League. This is essentially an informal league event intended to provide some action in between official league seasons, as well as foster player communication and comradery. (And don’t worry – there are also prizes to play for!) 2) Signups for the next league will begin shortly. Expect an announcement on this before the end of the 2011 playoffs! Interim League Description Each Wednesday until the start of the next season, an Interim League event will be hosted by league coordinator Brad Szymalak at one of the league locations. The location will be announced by email or SMS each week, and you will be able to sign up via the website or text message. Each event will offer a league-style match with random teammates for those interested, pick-up games, and a chance to meet and introduce new players, win prizes, and in general just have some great foosball fun and chat! Here are the details:
- The first six players to sign up either via the website or on location will be randomly drawn into two impromptu league teams. These two teams will participate in a standard Arizona Foosball League match as per normal league rules. (A second simultaneous match may be offered if there are enough players on hand that wish to participate, and the location offers a second table.)
- All players are eligible for the impromptu league match (it is not limited to veteran league players or substitutes). New players will be given an initial rating by the league coordinator.
- Prizes* will be awarded to participants at the end of the interim league period (before the start of the next official league):
-50% off new league entry fee to the player with the best games winning percentage & league rating below 4.0* - 50% off new league entry fee to the player with the best games winning percentage & league rating greater than or equal to 4.0* - 50% off new league entry fee to the player with the most interim matches played* * Winners must have played in at least 50% of the available interim match events. * Tie-breakers, in order: games won/lost pct, lower league rating, split We hope that the new Interim League will satisfy your league cravings during the brief off-season, and also serve as an opportunity for you to get to know other players better, form new teams, and introduce new players to our league! Interim League Begins 7pm Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Main St. Billiards, Mesa So, as you can see, the AZ Foosball League is far from quiet! We look forward to seeing you at any of the upcoming playoff games, interim league events, or the grand finale league championships and party FOOS BOWL VIII on October 22! Check your email and the website www.arizonafoosball.com for the latest updates. If you have any questions or suggestions, please write or call us. |

The Mad Chef 3941 E. Chandler Blvd.

One T-2000 Tornado table w/light.
This is a nice family-friendly restaurant & sports bar, in a part of town in desperate need of some foos action!
The GM, Vince, is glad to have us there and is looking forward to our next league. Also, some of you may have met Nolan Gorney, who is in the games business and lives in that part of town. He is another veteran player getting back to the game, and aims to help bring some of our craziness out to the South Phoenix area! |

2011-2012 Winter League Signups
are now open at http://arizonafoosball.com/Leagues
In response to popular demand, we will begin the new league promptly. Our plan is to accept signups immediately and launch as early as the first week of December (if enough are signed up in time!), and no later than the first week of January otherwise. (But do not fear - if we launch in December, we will provide a break for the holidays!) Our last season was a broad success, and we are looking at a real possibility of launching 16-20 teams in the coming version. Don’t miss out on what looks like the best AZ Foosball season so far! Here are some things to look forward to: * Returning player count is high. * We have received unprecedented interest from new players! * Two new locations to choose from (Ahwatukee and Gilbert). * Improved league web support. * Additional league coordinators (to make things easier on you!). Have a Great Foosin’ Winter! Bill Nolan (602) 751-8818 Jeremy Wettlaufer (602) 722-9572 Arizona Foosball P.S. Also remember: if you are a veteran player, you can receive a $20 discount if you introduce a new player into the league. Just make sure to talk to a coordinator to claim your hard-earned prize! edited by BillyBoy on 11/1/2011 |

There were over 20 players on hand and a few new guys trying out the league. Very nice event, and good playing by some of these guys that call themselves newbies and "past their prime"! LOL. You guys are really turning this league into something special.
Thanks to Jeremy for helping to run the event (we gave Brad a rest). And thanks especially to Daniel and Miles for being there early and helping out with the overhaul of the tables - we had a cool assembly line going on all the bearings, etc. Those things played like lightning Wednesday night! |

There was an excellent turnout Wednesday for the Interim League in Mesa. Over 20 players on hand and a few new guys trying it out. There should be a few more weeks of this event, and then we'll start up the real deal again in Dec or Jan at latest. In the meantime, if you are interested in playing this season, be sure to visit the Leagues section and update your sign-up info, and get your teammates together. This season, the coordinators have come up with some new ideas that I think will make it even more fun.
More info soon...!
