I managed to access the last set of local points that Dan had in his database. It was built using the ELO system for about two years and is based on hundreds of tournament results. I use his points as a starting place for our players and added more tournaments to the PHX database, and then ran another point calculation. I am thinking about using this as our current rankings.
The old database had many players in it that don't participate in our tournaments any more. I will only add people to the list if they participate in a current AZ tournament, and the tournament director sends me the results. I will start them with the points they had in Dan's database.
I think it is very accurate for the most part. Please if you have any opinions let me know...

Casey that is why I used the points that they were keeping to make make up my points. I had the same problem at the last HI/LO that I ran. I would have used the same database however I did not have access to it until I had already put 15 or so tournaments in the new one. I will make it open to all tournament directors so they can use it if they wish. I do like the new one because it only has active local players in it the old one had many players that do not actively play here. However if any of them ever show I will use their points in Dan's DB as a starting point for them.
On another note I have had a couple of players voice concerns about the possibility of Mary Moore using local points to help accurately rank players for her tournaments. This is something that they do not want so I am considering not posting the points any more but keeping the list semi-private so just our player base has access to it. I would like to hear more ideas and opinions on this subject.

Some of our players are worried that the powers that be may take our local points to rank playes in large tournaments. With all the resets several players have expressed to me that they want to stay at the ranking they are at. With that said I will continue to keep the points for our local tournaments however I will not post them. I will just use them to rank players at our hi\lo, singles, and byp events. Thanks for your comments and support. If you have additional concerns please let me know, I want to consider all opinions.

I lean towards standing with tradition on this one, we can do the BYP/DYP the week after. Bill is correct the problem would be with Expert and Pro partners entering the draw just to save money. Typically the DYP teams do not place in the money anyhow. If you noticed I really dropped the price for Beginners for this one, to the same price that they would pay in a DYP. Also it is usually beginners that end up in the DYP as well. This way they can at least pick the beginner that they play with.
However if there are a significant number of people sitting out because of the format have them contact me. If it is truly a large number of players I will consider adding the DYP to the Open.

Hey I have an idea.....highest placing beginners\rookie team that is not in the money Wins double their entry fee......team must have at least one beginner, determined by having 899 or less local points...

Foosers -
The following points are the local rankings I have for players that have played in tournaments at the Cactus Moon and some Stingers events. At the request of several foosers I will not list the points. However I will make them available, along with the cutoffs for divisions by request. These points will be used for beginner doubles and for seeding other events. If you have concerns or need to know more details please let me know. If there are additional players who decide to participate and are not on this list, we will rate them according to the following.
1st Use the old net foos database to locate them and use those points
2nd Use national points if the player is in the database
3rd Use league ranking, awarding them points similar to similarly ranked players in league who have a point ranking
4th Tournament director will make judgement call if above steps do not apply
